Incorrectly oriented pages are one of the most common PDF problems, and they happen for a handful of predictable reasons. Scanning in the wrong direction — when scanning physical documents, it is easy to place pages sideways on a flatbed scanner or in the wrong direction in an automatic document feeder. The resulting PDF has pages rotated 90° or 180°. Mobile phone photos converted to PDF — photos taken in landscape orientation and converted to PDF often land sideways because the PDF creator misreads the EXIF rotation metadata from the phone's camera. Mixed-orientation documents — a document that contains both portrait pages and landscape pages — such as a report with a wide data table in the middle — may have all pages forced into the same orientation during export or printing to PDF…
Yes. PDFWix rotates PDF pages at the file level, meaning the rotation is embedded in the PDF structure itself. The corrected orientation is preserved in every PDF viewer — Adobe Reader, Chrome, Preview on Mac, mobile browsers, and printing software all display the page correctly after saving. This is different from simply rotating the view in a PDF reader. Most PDF viewers let you rotate the on-screen display temporarily, but that rotation disappears when you close the file. PDFWix writes the rotation permanently into the PDF so every reader opens it correctly without any manual adjustment.

Yes. The rotation is embedded into the PDF file structure, not just the viewer display. The corrected orientation is preserved in every PDF viewer and when printing.

Yes. Rotate any page 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180°. Combine rotations on different pages in the same session before saving — for example, rotate page 3 by 90° and page 7 by 180° in one step.
No. PDF page rotation is a metadata operation — it changes the orientation flag stored in the PDF page dictionary without re-encoding or re-rendering any content. Text, images, and vector graphics are completely unchanged. The file size after rotation is virtually identical to the original.
PDF viewers interpret the page rotation flag differently. Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, and iOS Preview honour the flag correctly. Some older or lightweight viewers ignore it and display the raw page orientation instead. Rotating with PDFWix writes the rotation directly into the page content stream — not just the metadata flag — so it displays correctly everywhere.
Open PDFWix Rotate PDF, upload your file, select the pages you want to rotate, choose '90° clockwise' or '90° counter-clockwise', and click Save. The rotation is saved permanently into the PDF — it will display at the correct orientation in all PDF viewers including Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Preview on Mac, and mobile apps.
PDF pages appear sideways when they were scanned or created in landscape orientation but saved with incorrect page rotation metadata. The fix is to rotate the page 90° in the correct direction using PDFWix Rotate PDF. If rotating clockwise makes it worse, rotate counter-clockwise instead. Once saved, the correct orientation is permanent.
Yes. Select 180° rotation in PDFWix Rotate PDF to flip pages upside down. This is useful for double-sided printing layouts or correcting documents scanned face-down. You can apply the 180° rotation to all pages or only selected pages.
