Why rotating PDFs on iPhone is harder than it should be

Most iPhone users assume rotating a PDF page is a one-click operation. It isn't. Built-in viewers usually rotate only the on-screen display — close and reopen the file and the rotation is gone. To make rotation stick you have to re-save the PDF, which most iPhone viewers can't do.

Native iPhone method (and its limits)

The Files app on iOS 15+ can rotate a PDF: tap-and-hold the PDF, choose Rotate Left/Right. This rotates the entire document only — no per-page control.

Why doesn't iPhone's built-in PDF viewer save rotation permanently?
