Common uses for converting PDFs

How to Export an SVG at Any Resolution

  1. Add your SVG files — Drag .svg logos, icons or illustrations into the upload box. Batches work.
  2. Pick an output width — Original, 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 px. Height follows the original proportions.
  3. PNG or JPG — Keep PNG for a transparent background, or switch on JPG for a white background.
  4. Download — Click Convert. One file downloads directly; several come as a ZIP or one by one.

Quick answer

To convert SVG to PNG free: open PDFWix SVG to PNG, drop in your .svg files, choose an output width such as 1024 or 2048 px, and click Convert to PNG. The PNGs download with transparent backgrounds; switch on JPG if you need a white background instead.

How PDFWix SVG to PNG works

PDFWix SVG to PNG reads each file's width, height and viewBox, rewrites the root svg element with explicit pixel dimensions at the chosen output width, and rasterises it with the browser's own SVG engine onto a canvas. Because the vector is redrawn at the target size rather than scaled up from a small bitmap, edges stay sharp at 4096 pixels. PNG output keeps full alpha transparency; JPG output is placed on white. Files are never uploaded.

Vector vs raster: why the output size matters

An SVG stores instructions — draw a circle here, fill this path red — so it has no fixed resolution. A PNG stores a grid of pixels, so once it is created its sharpness is fixed. That is why the most important choice when converting is the output width: pick it for the largest size the image will be displayed at. 512 px suits app icons and favicons, 1024 px suits slides and documents, 2048 or 4096 px suits print and retina banners. Some SVGs have no width or height, only a viewBox, and some have neither; PDFWix reads the viewBox to keep proportions and falls back to 1024 px square when nothing is declared. SVGs that load external fonts or linked images may render with fallback fonts, because browsers block external resources when drawing SVG to a canvas — convert text to outlines in your design tool for pixel-perfect results.
