Frequently asked questions

Does ChromeOS have a built-in PDF-to-JPG converter?

No. The Chrome PDF viewer can print, save back as PDF, and copy text, but has no Save as JPEG action. ChromeOS Files and Gallery don't render PDF pages either.

Can I install a PDF converter from the Play Store?

On most Chromebooks since 2019, yes — but the popular options are ad-supported, watermark output, or upload files. A browser-based converter like PDF to JPG avoids the install and the upload.

Is PDFWix safe on a school-managed Chromebook?

Yes — it's a regular web page, no extension or app to install. Rendering happens in the Chrome tab and files don't leave the device. Admin policies that block downloads will still apply; ask IT to whitelist if needed.
