Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to compress a client tax return?

Yes. Compress PDF runs in your browser — the return never reaches our servers. Output is suitable for IRS e-file (avoids the High preset for filings with handwritten signatures, which need maximum legibility).

Can PDFWix replace an Acrobat firm subscription?

For the operational workload (merge, compress, redact, protect, sign, extract, compare) yes. For commercial-print preflight or batch portfolio tools, you'll still want a single Acrobat seat in the firm.

Does Redact PDF satisfy professional-standards confidentiality?

Yes. The redaction strips data from the PDF stream rather than covering it. Use it before sharing exemplars in CPE training or audit-evidence releases.

Can I password protect a client's tax PDF?

Yes. PDFWix Protect PDF encrypts files with AES-256 — the same standard used by US government agencies under FIPS 140-2. Upload the tax PDF, set a password, and download the encrypted file. Only someone with the password can open it. The password is never stored or transmitted to PDFWix. Share the password with your client via a separate secure channel.

Is it safe to compress a tax return PDF?

Yes. PDFWix Compress PDF processes files entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — the tax document never leaves your device. Compression only reduces image resolution and removes metadata; it does not alter any text, numbers, figures, or form data in the PDF. The compressed file is identical in content to the original.
